Digital Games Tax Credit Renewed

On July 28th, the European Commission approved the extension of the Digital Games Tax Credit as it was outlined in our budget submission, to cover post-release content. This is the first step in improving the tax credit to be the best it can be for all Irish game creators.

What this means, in practicle terms, is a studio can now claim 32% on eligible development for up to three years after a game launches.

This has been worked on by many wonderful individuals through our tax working group, and we continue to work towards further improvements in the credit, as outlined in our Pre-Budget Submission this year.

A huge thank you to Tánaiste Simon Harris and Minister Patrick O'Donovan for their continued support of the games sector and our ambitions with the tax credit. We look forward to working together on further improvements going forward.

This is a huge boost to Ireland's competitiveness on the global stage and another step in making Ireland one of the best countries in the world to be a game creator.
