“Games from Ireland” Steam Event – Q&A
Q: How visible will the event be globally?
A: The event will have a Store page placement/banner on launch day, 13th March 2026 from 5pm GMT
Q: Can we continue our discounts from the Irish event into the Steam Spring Sale?
A: Yes. Steam normally has a 3 week (note: 30 days straight, working days) cooldown period for discounts.
However, this cooldown period does not apply to events hosted by Steam itself. So, participating teams can discount their games from the start of the St. Patrick’s Day event (starts 13th March) all the way through the Steam Spring Sale (ends 26th March).
Q: Do teams need to translate their games/Steam pages to languages where the event will be present?
A: No, but translations will help the reach of your game in areas where that language is spoken. This is up to developer discretion.
Q: What stage of development will games have to be in to be included?
A: Games will be included based on their release status in the following order : Full Release, Early Access, Free Demos, Steam Page Only, New Game Announcement on Steam.
Q: If I am a paying member of Imirt, will my game(s) get priority?
A: No. IMIRT Members, both individual and corporate, will be treated the same as non-paying participants. This is due to Steam’s Terms of Service which say we cannot discriminate based on whether a person or company has given us money.
Q: I can’t see the event in the developer calendar in the back end of Steam. Does this mean I cannot take part in the event?
A: The page is still in development and is not yet publicly visible. Only those who have submitted their App IDs to IMIRT will see the event in their Steamworks calendar.
Q: I have a daily deal for my game(s) that will clash with the event. Can I still take part in the event?
A: You will still be able to take part in the event, however we would encourage participating teams to have a discount during the event to encourage its popularity and reach. Valve will also be looking at metrics for this event to measure how successful it was, so the more discounts/sales/wishlists, the better.
Q: I’m releasing my game during the time period of the event. Can I put it on discount for the event?
A: It would have to be a launch discount as you cannot put a standard discount within the first 30 days. Your game will still show as a discounted game on the event page.
Q: I’m releasing a paid DLC for my game during the time period of the event. Can I put the DLC on discount, but leave the full game not discounted?
A: It would have to be a launch discount as you cannot put a standard discount within the first 30 days. Your DLC will still show as a discounted game on the event page. We would recommend syncing a DLC release with the base game discount
Q: When is the end date for submissions/applications? Can I add a game to the event after the submission deadline has passed?
A: The end date for submissions is the 6th of March. The deadline for submitting video materials for the showcase is the 23rd of February.
Q: What kind of videos would be best for your Feature Showcase or Highlight Reel?
A: We ask that you submit trailers or raw footage from your game. As we build the showcase, we may come back to you with additional requests.
Q: When can we start promoting the event online/in real life? Are we going to be using specific hashtags on social media?
A: Imirt is working with developers, members of the media, and content creators across multiple platforms to try and reach as many people as possible. We would ask developers to keep an eye on their emails for further instructions on how best to promote ourselves and this event.
Q: I used Generative AI in my game. Can I still take part in the event?
A: Yes. However, according to Steam’s Terms of Service, a developer MUST disclose that they used Generative AI in their game on the relevant Steam Page, along with a brief description of how it was used.
Q: How do developers get notified when they’ve made a successful application?
A: Developers can contact us to see if their form has been received. Applicants will receive a materials form following a successful EOI application. Please accept an up-to 24-hour delay on this.
Q: Also if I'm in the process of submitting a new game to Steam, am I already too late to add it to the list when a store page is live, or is it something that could possibly be added?
A: As long as you have the Steam App ID, you can submit your game for inclusion within the event.
Q: Can I include my game if it goes live during the event?
A: Yes, as long as you have your Steam App ID, you can be a part of the event.
Q: How do we share Steam Keys for content creators and journalists?
A: We will contact developers to receive steam keys. We will be working with content creators and journalists to figure out what kind of content they would like to cover from the event.
Q: Double checking if it would be ok to offer Streamers to play a game which is currently only available as a Playtest on Steam?
A: As long as you are comfortable with sharing your game with content creators, games with demos or only available as a playtest are fine with us.
Q: Can demo pages or steam pages without a playable be included?
A: Yes, as long as your Steam Page is live to receive wishlists, you can be a part of the event.
